Juneau to Petersburg
A Journey Through Southeast Alaska
September 03-10, 2012
8 days & 7 nights Adventure
3,600.00 per person double occupancy
Explore, discover and learn about the magical watery ecosystems of Southeast Alaska. Cruise Juneau to Petersburg.
This glacial wilderness supports a diversity of wildlife as varied as the landscape. Humpback whales, Orca, Harbor and Dall porpoise, White Sided Dolphins and Stellar Sea Lion as well as numerous sea birds are sighted frequently in these nutrient rich waters. In the rainforest we hope to see black bear, brown bear, and mountain goats. We average three to four hours of cruising each day. The rest of each day is spent exploring the glacial fjords and bays by kayak or shore hiking. Our routes and anchorages are chosen to give us the best available opportunities to experience the rich and diverse environment of this temperate rain forest.
Each day we will explore the nutrient rich waters of Southeast Alaska and learn the story of place-the spiritual, cultural, natural history and current threats and solutions.
September is a terrific time to watch bears fishing in salmon streams, humpback whales, feeding preparing for migration to warmer waters, and birds migrating from arctic to southern climates.
